Halal Certification Process for Restaurants, Hotels, and Catering Services
To obtain Halal certification for restaurants, hotels, and catering services, organizations and businesses need to follow the process below:
Step 1: Halal Awareness Training
The business is trained on Halal standards relevant to the products they wish to certify (food, food packaging, cosmetics, textile products, etc.).
Step 2: Establish Halal Assurance System
The business either develops its own system or hires an independent consulting firm capable of building a quality assurance system according to Halal standards.
Step 3: Application for Certification
The business submits an application for Halal certification along with the required documentation.
Step 4: Preliminary Evaluation – Stage 1
The certifying organization conducts a Stage 1 Evaluation – Preliminary Assessment of the documentation and readiness for the official evaluation stage.
Step 5: Official Evaluation – Stage 2
The certifying organization performs a Stage 2 Evaluation – Official Certification Assessment on-site at the facility.
Step 6: Document Review and Certification Issuance
The certifying organization reviews the post-evaluation documents and issues certification if the facility meets Halal standards.
Note: For businesses that have already completed training and established a Halal Assurance System, only Step 3 is required to obtain certification.
